Financial model translation makes a workbook’s written content accessible in another language. Bluente brings document translation and custom terminology into that workflow, so teams can review the assumptions alongside the figures.

    What should change.
    What your team should check.

A model contains language, data and executable logic. Treat each separately when preparing a translation and reviewing the returned file.

    Workbook elementTranslation scopeReview before sharing
Labels & assumptionsTranslate line-item descriptions, headings and written assumptions.Check meaning, terminology and any text that drives a lookup or conditional rule.
Numbers & currenciesTranslate the surrounding language. Translation does not convert currencies or restate financials.Compare values, units, date formats, decimal separators and rounding notes with the original.
Formulas & referencesKeep calculation logic outside the language-editing scope.Recalculate the workbook and compare key outputs, cell references and named ranges.
Tables & presentationBluente’s document workflow is designed to retain formatting and table structure.Inspect column widths, wrapped text, merged cells, charts and print areas.
Macros & external linksAgree the scope for complex or macro-enabled workbooks before a production batch.Test VBA, linked files, data connections, protected sheets and other dependencies separately.

Start with a representative workbook. File-specific behaviour should be verified on your model, especially where formulas depend on text labels or worksheet names.

    every translated model.

Use the native Excel file when you need to keep working in a spreadsheet. A PDF is useful for reviewing the presentation, but it does not contain the workbook’s underlying formulas.

    Explore Excel translation

    Prepare a review copy

Keep an untouched original. Identify the required worksheets, language pair and any macros, external links or protected content.

    Set the language and terminology

Upload your file and select the target language. Apply approved translations for recurring terms such as working capital, deferred tax and enterprise value.

    Download, compare and recalculate

Review the translated file against the source. Recalculate key outputs and resolve language or workbook issues before circulating it.

    Make review repeatable

    A translated model still
    needs an analyst’s eyes.

Translation supports understanding. It does not validate the forecast, audit the calculations or replace your team’s approval process.

Use this checklist for the returned workbook, then keep the completed review with the model’s version history.

    Questions before your first upload.

Can Bluente translate an Excel financial model?

Bluente supports Excel document translation and custom financial terminology. Start with a representative workbook so your team can assess the translated content, formatting and behaviour of the returned file before processing a larger set.

Will the translated model still calculate correctly?

The translation scope should preserve calculation logic while changing the written content. Validate the returned workbook by recalculating it and comparing key outputs with the original. Pay particular attention to formulas that depend on text labels, worksheet names, named ranges or external files.

Does translation convert currencies or accounting standards?

No. Translating a model is a language task. Currency conversion, accounting adjustments and changes to valuation assumptions are separate financial modelling decisions. Check that values, units and currency labels retain their original meaning.

Can I use my own financial terminology?

Yes. Bluente supports custom glossaries with approved source and target terms. Use a glossary for recurring financial labels and descriptions, then review the wording in context. Visit the glossary and terminology page for the current configuration options.

What if the model is a PDF or a scan?

Bluente supports PDF and scanned-document translation. These files can help a reviewer understand the model’s presentation, but a translated PDF or scan does not restore the underlying Excel formulas. Supply the native workbook when calculation logic matters.

What about macros, protected sheets and external links?

These require a separate scope and compatibility check. Share the workbook requirements with Bluente before a production batch, and test the returned file in the environment your team uses. Do not assume that a readable translated sheet proves every dependency works.

How much does financial model translation cost?

Check Bluente’s current pricing or request a quote for your document volume. For complex workbooks, confirm how usage is calculated and allow for your team’s review time. A sample-file evaluation helps establish the right workflow before a larger engagement.

Can I translate confidential transaction models?

Bluente publishes security documentation, automatic deletion and no-model-training policies, with private deployment options for enterprise needs. Review the current Trust Centre materials and your organisation’s requirements before uploading confidential transaction documents.

What file formats can I use for financial model translation?

For editable financial models, start with the native Excel workbook. Bluente also supports PDF, Word, PowerPoint and image documents for supporting reports and review copies. A PDF or image does not carry the original spreadsheet formulas; confirm requirements for complex workbook formats before a batch.

Can Bluente handle financial tables and charts?

Bluente’s document translation workflow is designed to preserve tables and layout. Review chart labels, source ranges, legends, merged cells and print areas in the returned workbook. Use your own sample to verify behaviour for the charts and model structures your team relies on.

How long does financial model translation take?

Processing time depends on file size, complexity and the language pair. Test a representative workbook to establish processing and review time for your project, and contact Bluente for high-volume requirements. Include analyst review in your turnaround estimate.

Can I get bilingual output for financial review?

Bluente offers bilingual output for document review. Confirm the available output format for your workbook and language pair before a batch. Keep the original model alongside the translated file when checking terminology, calculations and assumptions.
