Apart from language barriers, there are cultural differences that can hinder communication with your colleague, even if you’re fluent in Chinese. Sometimes knowing the basics of how to communicate with another in their language is simply not enough. Understanding how they use some of their phrases or some of their cultural behaviour will take you a long way towards working well and getting along with others from a different culture.
